"Avari first understood that she had wings when a girl threw a rock at her head. She knew she was different, that somehow she could hear the earth's voice when no one else could. That she could hear the breeze speak about people's hopes and fears. She knew the villagers were frightened of her, which is why she forgave them when they stared at her, but it was still no reason for them to not protect Kaia."
This peace of your story, in my eyes, told me exactly how Avari felt. It made me conect with her, made me understand her more then any other bit of text I read in this first chapter did!
May I iquire where this story takes place? I shall be interested to see where your tale goes.
Author's Response: I'm thinking somewjhere around Bilbo's time before he sets off on the journey in The Hobbit. Or maybe the time in between Bilbo's journey and Frodo's journey. Good Question!
