This is deep and beautifully writen. It is obvious to me that Vanie is sinking into depression. When the world we once understood so well no longer makes sense we often ask the larger questions. Vanie seems she is wondering if she is capable of such evil herself. I believe you are right. Few things are truly evil by nature.

Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, poor VaniŽ can't deal with the fact that her father and the rest of her family are doing what they are doing. So she is slipping into depression, afraid of everything, even herself. I appreciate your agreeing with the idea I have contrived for this piece. :)

Nicely written explanation. It is a glimpse into relationship of the sisters too. I can feel Vanime's need to protect her sister Vanie. Another wonderful piece.

Author's Response: Thanks for this. Since I read over the challenges it just suddenly popped into my mind and I couldn't rest without typing it out. It may find itself someday into a later installment of Ancient Wounds.
